Teams make fashion statement as they arrive

Nigerian players arrived in style in Russia in dazzling white travel suits with a small football figure embedded in a green, wing-like design that stands out befitting the team’s nickname, Super Eagles (pictured – Image courtesy: Twitter) . Their pictures posted earlier on social media impressed some while others wondered whether they were going to participate in some fashion show. Captain and former Chelsea player John Obi Mikel’s photo carried a caption announcing: “Russia, here we come.” Nigeria was not an exception in arriving in style.  Iceland landed earlier in the same tailored light blue jacket and white shirt and wearing brown leather shoes. Showcasing of sartorial skills by some teams have taken their fans by surprise. But as teams start training for World Cup at their respective bases across Russia’s 11 host cities, they will have only one thing on their minds — winning the cup.
