At least one person was injured after a fire broke out on the ninth floor of a 12-storey apartment block in Manchester, England. The man is being treated in a hospital for smoke inhalation. The building was safely evacuated. Twelve fire crews are still tackling the blaze in the Northern Quarter over a number of floors. Joiner Street and Church Street remain closed to traffic and people have been told to avoid the area and close their windows and doors if they live nearby. Firefighters said three apartments have been damaged. A fire in the Grenfell Tower social housing block in west London killed 71 people on June 14 this year. Another fire that broke out at a rooftop pub in a Mumbai building killed 15 people in the early hours of Friday. Twelve residents were killed in yet another fire at a five-storey apartment in Bronx, New York City, on Thursday.
