A North Korean soldier is being treated for gunshot wounds after he made a rare escape to South Korea through the heavily protected joint security area at Panmunjom on Monday. The soldier is yet to be identified. Hundreds of North Koreans defect to South through its long border with China. In another incident on Monday, a 58-year-old American national identified only as ‘A’ was arrested in South Korea after a local saw him trying to cross into North Korea and alerted the authorities.
