Koreas to hold military, family reunion talks this month

North and South Koreas agreed on Friday to hold general-level military talks on June 14 at the truce village of Panmunjom (pictured), family reunion talks on June 22 at the North’s Mount Kumgang resort and open a liaison office in the North’s border town of Kaesong at an early date. The agreements were a follow-up of the deal struck between the Koreas at the historic April 27 summit between South’s President Moon Jae-in and North’s leader Kim Jong-un. They will discuss sports cooperation on June 18 ahead of the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Indonesia. The two sides also agreed to advance their talks on reconnection of railways and roads between the two countries and cooperation in the forestry area.
