Bangalore: India’s IT major Infosys on Friday named an outsider Salil S Parekh as its next chief executive officer. Parekh comes from rival Capgemini where he was a member of the group executive board. Announcing the appointment, Nandan Nilekani, chairman of the Infosys board, said Parekh has a strong track record of executing business turnarounds and managing successful acquisitions. Former CEO of Infosys Vishal Sikka left suddenly in August this year following differences of opinion with the company’s founding executives led by Narayana Murthy over strategy and corporate governance. His exit following a public row led to a reshuffling of the Infosys board with Nandan Nilekani, a co-founder and former CEO, returning as non-executive chairman. UB Pravin Rao will step down as interim CEO on January 2, 2018 and will continue as chief operating officer and on the board.
