Ford names new president for its North America group

After the abrupt departure of Raj Nair (pictured) on Wednesday following an internal investigation, Ford Motor has appointed company insider Kumar Galhotra as the new president for its North America business, agencies report. Galhotra has previously led Ford’s luxury Lincoln Motor Company arm. The appointment will be effective March 1. Ford did not give any specific reason for removing Nair. It just said an investigation found that his behaviour was inconsistent with the company’s code of conduct. A company spokesman said the review was launched in the past few weeks after Ford received a report of inappropriate behaviour. Nair’s departure comes amid exit of so many high-profile business leaders and politicians over charges of  sexual misconduct. Nair apologised, without elaborating. He said there had been instances where he failed to show leadership behaviours consistent with the principles the company adhered to.
