Ballet lovers feel the pain as ‘Sleeping Beauty’ cut short by rat

Some 2,000 ballet lovers and performers had to suddenly leave Adelaide Festival Centre (pictured) on Wednesday night after a rat caused a two-hour blackout on a power grid during the third and final act of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ by Australian Ballet. ‎South Australia Power Networks said a rat crawled inside one of their 11,000-volt pieces of equipment and blew a ‎fuse.‎ ‘The Beginning of Nature’, another dance drama going on at the same venue, was also affected. The organisers apologised for the inconvenience and disappointment caused to the patrons who, they said, will get a full ‎refund and a recording of the ballet free of charge. One of the patrons Emma Groves tweeted they left the hall after being told power will not be restored until 11.30 pm.‎ Groves wondered whether the prince and princess will get together. The festival director said the couple end up happily ever ‎after.
